For more than 10 years, I have been working as an editor, colourist and camera operator on television commercials, music videos, short films and documentaries. Most recently working in-house for Taylor James Ltd, an international creative production studio - having worked on projects for Bosch, Sony Music and Jaguar Land Rover. My production service extends to producing behind-the-scenes content, short documentaries, brand films and 2D graphic animations.

My passion is to create emotionally engaging content. I aim to help non-profit organisations highlight social issues, create awareness for campaigns and attract funding & support. I've produced promotional films, short documentaries and 2D animations for organisations including 'The Trussel Trust' and 'Homeless Link'.

ABOUT ME

I started out as a teenager making my own short films and videos with my friends in my home town of Norwich, learning the fundimentals of film making as I went. Fast forward many years and after a handful of roles, I found myself the Editor and colourist at Taylor James, a company that became my home for almost 7 years. They supported me as I developed my skills and knowledge-base, but they also challeged me, ultimately making me better at what I do.

With a growing interest in documentary filmmaking, I began producing films for local charities and foodbanks with Taylor James. I’ve always had an interest in political and social activism, and these projects gave me the opportunity to apply my skillset to something that was meaningful to me, and meet some of the amazing individuals who have dedicated their lives to helping the most vulnerable people in society. Through this I began my own film production service for charities and other non-profit organisations

Outside of my commercial and commissioned work, I still produce many of my own films. I also shoot short documentaries, politcal/activist events and time-lapse photography. In addition to this, I’ve been writing and recording my own music for almost 20 years and have also written music for my own films as well as for others. EXPERIENCE

TAYLOR JAMES

Editor and Colourist - 2013 to 2020
Taylor James is a global post-production company specialising in CGI and Print Retouch. Here, I was the lead in-house editor and colourist, amongst other roles. I’ve worked on music promos, short films, TV commercials, behind the scenes videos as well as a range of internal promotional content. I worked closely with the CGI department to prepare rushes and rough layouts for VFX sequences and often added any finishing touches, as well as doing some compositing work on smaller projects. I also built upon Taylor James’ extensive library of print work by adding animation and parallax effects.

LITTLE YELLOW JACKET

Cameraman, Editor and Colourist - 2012 to 2013

Little Yellow Jacket began as a photographic hire company providing equipment for a range of commercial photo shoots. It soon branched out into production - producing music videos, fashion films, and behind the scenes videos. I was brought in as an in-house cameraman, editor and colourist. I was responsible for all aspects of video post-production and worked closely with clients, creatives and directors. Additionally, I was responsible for maintaining the edit suite, data back-ups and archives.

VIDEOJUG

Videographer - 2011 to 2012

Videojug run a website dedicated to tutorials ranging from various topics such as cookery to sports. In addition, they produce brand films and TV content. I was responsible for all technical aspects of a videos production, including setting up and arranging lighting, video and sound recording, editing, graphics and final colour grade. Due to my previous experience as a chef, I often worked on food shoots but was also involved in the art and craft, sports and fashion shoot productions.

SKILLSET

CAMERA / SOUND /LIGHTING
As a camera operator and DP, I’ve shot motion and sound for documentaries, live events, conferences and short films on various camera formats from DSLR’s to Digital Cinema cameras. My current kit includes: BMPCC 4k/6K Pro, Canon EOS80D, LED light panels, Sound Recording kit and DJI Ronin-S. Plus a Macbook Pro with the Adobe suite and DaVinci Resolve for ingesting rushes.

EDITING/COLOUR GRADING
As an editor and colourist I’ve worked on short films, commercials, documentaries and charity films, for broadcast and online, primarily using a combination of Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. I have experience with various raw and compressed formats such as BRAW, ARRIRAW and REDCODE. I have an excellent working knowledge of video encoding and colour science, and I'm able to adapt my workflow to get the best results from any material. I have my own post production kit for edit, grade and sound mixing.

ANIMATION / MOTION GRAPHICS / CGI INTEGRATION
Having worked for a retouch and CGI post-production company for the past seven years, I’ve gained extensive knowledge of photo retouch, compositing and animation. I've produced animations, motion graphics and breakdowns of retouch and visual effects projects. Additionally, having worked on various integrated productions, I have a good working knowledge of CGI / Visual Effects workflows and pipelines.
